I’m starting to watch movies again. This morning after work I watched The Tourist. I have mixed feelings about this film which I have decided to ramble on about here. May contain spoilers.
- Their accents. I couldn’t stand them. They were awful and so unnatural. I really didn’t think they were necessary in the first place. Why could they not have just been american.
+ The suspense. They kept the suspense going real good. They didn’t really spell it out for the audience and there were so many things that left me really thinking and kept me wanting to watch more.
+/- The concept was okay but I felt the reasoning behind it was not realistic which ruined the films authenticity, which leads me to the ending. It was a shock ending which I liked but the reasoning behind it felt like a last minute add in. I mean, plastic surgery? Where’s the creativity in that.
- Setting. The scenery was lovely but it all seemed irrelevant. I think the setting did make the film a little less dull but it just didn’t tie in with the mish-mashed storyline.
- Characters. When I saw the two A-list characters on the cover I thought this movie was going to be a hit but they really lacked chemistry which really didn’t help the film flow. The fact that Depp and Jolie were cast seem to be the only think really fuelling the film.
Ahhh I turned out to be more negative than I thought. Five minutes after viewing this film I thought I really liked it. All in all it wasn’t overly bad but on so many levels it could have been better. The storyline felt rushed, with more time and concept development the whole film could have been perfect.
